What's So Special About Us?
Every Hermes Carre is an iconic, handmade, limited edition, work of art. The result of hours and hours of individual love and concentration, exquisitely designed and produced, in extraordinary detail, and depth of colour, each one telling its own story.
At HermesScarf, the carre is not just a large, colourful, piece of silk to lift your outfit. Nor is it a collector's item to gather dust on a shelf.
We are passionate about the designs of each of our scarves, and their artists. Each one is like a study in History of Art, and fascinates us.
We believe that we are the only organisation, possibly in the world, to specialise solely in the iconic "Hermes '90", and therefore, hopefully, we offer the widest, best researched choice of these extraordinary, beautiful, and instantly recognisable scarves, anywhere.
Our favourites are generally the slightly more recent and unusual designs, the deepest colours, and scarves in excellent, or as new, condition. The majority of our scarves are descibed in Genevieve Arfon's "Carres d'art" (the Hermes Bible) as 'quite rare', 'rare' or 'very rare'; and 'highly sought after and desirable'. Although we also stock some of the more widely available, accessible and traditional designs. Hence the disparity in our pricing.
We spend hours, and sometimes even days, researching and writing up the designs of every one of our scarves - nothing is ever an accident in a Hermes creation!
Great Value!
Because, unlike most re-sellers, we select and purchase each scarf individually (rather than working on commission), ours is a carefully curated, much-loved collection, with huge attention paid to detail and photography. Also, we are lucky enough to have very low overheads, so we are almost always able to undercut other re-sellers.
We lovingly gift-wrap every one of our scarves in lots of tissue paper (paying it a tearful farewell!), pack it in a be-ribboned box to keep it safe, including a colour-coordinated print-out of our background research.
Then we post your scarf to you, 1st class tracked (all included) in a classy black envelope, your address hand-written on the front in gold. And because we're UK based, you dont need to worry about shipping, delays, nor those hideously expensive customs duties!
*an additional charge of £25 will be added for international tracked shipping

Unique Specialist Knowledge
We know quite a lot about horses, boats and music, so we understand the difference between etriers and an eperon d'or, between a mouthing bit and a snaffle; a Strad and a Yamaha; a Gaff and a Bermuda rig - so many ad hoc things intrinsic to a deeper appreciation of many of Hermes' carres. Every part of a horses' tack, for instance - the bridle, saddle, girth, saddle-cloth, breastplate, noseband, browband, bit, curb chain, stirrups, spurs, even a muzzel or curry comb - does a vital job. Yet somehow, in the hands of great artists such as Henri d'Origny, Françoise de la Perriere, and Hugo Grygkar, such everyday objects turn into exquisite works such as 'Etriers', 'Brides de Gala', 'Eperon d'Or', 'Mors a Jouets' - metalwork gleaming like shining jewellery! |
Who was Yannick Manier? Who owned and designed these gigantic, historical, oh so beautiful, sleek yachts? Are they still competing? |
